ENCOURAGING UNBELIEVERS

  • Always treat them with honor and respect
  • Live in such a way that they see Christ in you
  • Build trust with them by being a good friend 
  • Acknowledge their importance in your life
  • Be one of their balcony people (Read the book: Balcony People by Joyce Landorf Heatherly)
  • Create a safe environment for them (Read the book: Safe People by Cloud & Townsend)
  • Tell them the story of Christ
  • Share the joy you experience in Christ
  • Teach by example a love for the Lord’s church
  • Seek first to understand then to be understood
  • Attend activities in which they are involved 
  • Show an interest in their family
  • Share in their joys by offering to celebrate with them
  • Invite them to your home 
  • Have  a harmonious home

  • Invite them to attend worship services with you
  • Invite them to activities outside of the worship service
  • Assure them they will be welcomed at the service and be sure you do your part to make sure they feel welcomed
  • Invite them to study the Bible with you
  • Remind them of God’s love for them
  • Look for ways to encourage them 
  • Ask them what encourages them
  • Compliment them in regards to the good in their life
  • Acknowledge and validate that discouragement comes to everyone
  • Offer to help them through a time of discouragement
  • Actively listen to their concerns and sorrows
  • Be sympathetic when they are going through a difficult situation
  • Allow them to express their opinion on things
  • Encourage questions in regards to any topic
  • Always talk about things with them and not about other people
